Who you are
We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join an exciting project in the finance domain. This initiative focuses on developing a tool that integrates AI solutions and Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate and deliver content to end users via a web-based UI and chatbot interaction.
We are seeking someone with a background in data science who is familiar with managing datasets and has a good understanding of the finance sector.
Key responsibilities
- Testing and optimizing a large number of prompts to improve output quality.
- Building and managing datasets.
- Using and fine-tuning LLM tools.
Must-Have Skills
- Experience with LLM tools or the ability to quickly learn and utilize them effectively.
- Familiarity with dataset management and optimization techniques.
- Basic knowledge of financial concepts and markets.
- Familiarity with the software development process is a plus.
- Language Proficiency: Native or professional-level fluency in Italian and English is required.
Collaboration Details
- Contract Type: We are looking for a freelancer (Partita IVA).
- Duration: From mid-December to the end of June, with the possibility of extension beyond this period.
- Time Commitment:
- Preferred: Full-time.
- Consideration: Part-time with a significant number of hours.
- Work Mode: Hybrid. Ideally, we’d like you to join us in-person at our office one day a week to work closely with the team. We are flexible and open to evaluating a less frequent presence, but we value the opportunity to meet in person, especially at the beginning of the collaboration, to build a strong connection.
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience and expertise.
- Integration: You will work directly with our team, who will ensure you are fully integrated into processes and workflows.
- Client Interaction: Not required, but we are flexible based on your preferences and circumstances.
About the Project
- Scope: The tool generates text-based insights on the performance of financial products and surrounding economic contexts for an international banking client.
- Data Sources: Content is derived from a variety of internal and third-party APIs and datasets.
- Tech Stack: The project primarily employs LLMs and Python.
- Team Composition: Developers, data scientists, designers, and project managers work collaboratively to deliver high-quality solutions.

Do you have full-remote positions?
Not exactly. Being together has always been part of Buildo's DNA. However, we have a hybrid remote work policy that considers our team's and the company's needs.
Employees are required to be physically present only on specific occasions, such as project days (one day a week dedicated to the main project the person is working on), Buildo days (one day a month), and on-site weeks (two weeks a year).
Additionally, we have introduced Remote Months, which allow our employees to work remotely for two months a year. This gives our team members the chance to spend time with their families or work from other locations across the globe.
Do you provide body rental service to your clients?
We do not provide body rental services to our clients. Building a high-performing development team is crucial for creating successful software products.
To achieve this, we take numerous steps to nurture a team that can realize your vision, from recruiting the right talent to cultivating a positive team culture. Therefore, we prefer establishing impactful, long-term partnerships through project-based collaborations rather than providing body rental services.
Is it necessary to know Italian to work at Buildo?
Speaking Italian is necessary if you are considering a position at Buildo, as it is the primary language used within the company, even though we use English extensively with our international clients. Knowledge of Italian is optional only for collaboration roles.
